The Playlist "Diesel City" Review
ThePlayList.net, March 7, 2006

This is the fifth review that I have written today, and I've realized that describing bands' sounds can become a tedious process, especially when not trying to rehash words (which I often do). Gist play indie rock that wouldn't be out of place on the Dischord Records lineup. The guitar lines fit in nicely, playing off the melodic vocals and adding some cool layers to the band. The drumming isn't flashy, but there are some great drum lines on this album, in addition to keeping the tempo at a rocking place. The songs have a dancy feel to them at times, and a flat out rocking feel at other times. Parts are laid back while others are aggressive. Gist manage to pack a lot of punch on this album.
